PINK SATURDAY - a little bit late!

Welcome to Pink Saturday - thanks again Beverly howsweetthesound.typepad.com  for all your hard work! I'm a bit late today posting - time got away with me.

My pink today is brought to you by my great-niece, BRYNLEY!  By the way, she is great!  We have such fun with her and she has a wonderful imagination - it runs in the family!  Oh, the stories she can tell and the places she can take you!!!  It's wonderful.

In this picture, we were at a dance concert that my Hubby's dance company was performing.  We were in the lobby and Brynley and I decided it was a good place to FLY!  Notice her PINK sweater and bow:

We were flying to other lands - can't you tell?

After all the flying, Brynley spotted the beautiful PINK sunset - don't you wonder what is going on in her little imagination?  

Whatever it is.........she is reaching for it!

Oh, to be four years old!

SNOW DAYS

Happy Thursday Everyone!

wow, who knew it was Thursday- this week has FLOWN by. Well here at home, we have been under 8 gazillion inches of snow and ice. The last 2 days have been Snow Days- which meant I could work on pictures from this past weekend via photoshop. fun times lol

Yesterday, Noodle was sitting on my bed and looking out the window with a longing glance...

then she'd look at me...

She clearly wanted to go play in the snow...

So we got bundled up in our snow gear and went outside...where she then proceeded to take a nosedive into a heap of snow... awesome...

she had to give a good shake to get all the snow off her face...

I don't think Noodle even knew what this white snow was... honestly- she'd just pounce around then stand there for a second pondering what it was...

and then after about 4 minutes, she gave another look saying...

"alright, i'm done lets go back inside..." She clearly is part of this family.

So we went inside, took off our snowbunny gear, and we sat in the Laundry Room bundled up in towels to get Noodle warm again...

it was a good snow day. how was yours?

PINK SATURDAY - PART 3!!!!!!!

WELCOME to our third PINK SATURDAY!  First, thanks to Beverly at howsweetthesound.com  - be sure to visit her blog and find many more FABULOUS blogs to read and to find that the world is really full of PINK!

Today, I would like to introduce one of my fairy friends, ANNALENA:

She is one of many little fairies I have collected.  Annalena was made by Kathe Kruse, a German Company who makes the most FANTASTIC FAIRIES and dolls.  You can visit her at www.kathekruse.com

They have the prettiest expressions on their faces......notice her cute freckles!

I have been collecting these fairies for a few years now, since Ashley has been living in LA.  There is the greatest little German toy store (The Acorn Shop) in Santa Monica who carries these cuties and everybody knows how crazy nuts I am for fairies.

I keep them in the guest bedroom on their own shelf:

They are just wondering which one will be the lucky one to be chosen for another post!!!

20 Random Facts

1. In 4th grade, I was deathly afraid of Tornados because I watched "Night of the Twisters" ONE too many times. And yes it was so bad therapy was discussed.

2. Now I LOVE thunderstorms, even severe ones.

3. My favorite memory from family vacations was getting up early, sitting on the deck of our condo (with my cherry strudel for breakfast) and listening to the waves crash on the beach (on Sanibel Island).

4. As much as i say i hate kids, I really can deal and like to be around them one on one. Its when you get a stampede of children that I get nervous.

5. I'm a magazine whore.. Vogue, Real Simple, Somerset, Vanity Fair, O, Time, Us Weekly, Dance Spirit, Teen Vogue, W, Martha Stewart, etc... as you can see I don't discriminate...

6. My favorite color is an antique rose pink

7. Every Good Friday, my family and I would play tennis, out on the street. We did this so we could be outside when it got dark and the clouds always covered the sun at the "time" Jesus died.

8. I love going to flea markets

9. I could only wear dresses for the rest of my life and be completely happy

10. In 2nd grade, we had a dog named Sunny. She played tug-o-war with my hair.

11. I split my chin open, as a kid, trying to rid my bike up a hill....half way up gravity won and I hit m chin on the concrete. I asked my dad "AM I BLEEDING??" and trying not to throw up he's said "Ya...a little." I cracked it open 3 inches... After 1000 something stitches, a visit to the plastic surgeon at the hospital, and a band-aid on all of my stuffed animals' chins, I survived and now think to myself "riding a bike up a giant hill? come on ashley, you dumbass." hahaha

12. In 7th grade, I asked my parents to please put me in an all-girl private school because I was so unhappy in public school. Best Decision of my life.

13. Sometimes its still hard for me to relate to middle school aged kids... i don't understand what happens... the hormones, the caddy behavior, the big hair- its just scary, folks!!! lol

14. I heart bookstores. I could go to a bookstore every day and be happy.

15. I had 2 birds growing up.. Sunshine was a canary and Buddy was a finch (that ended up being a girl and laid eggs... confused? so was I at the age of 7)

16. I was a Spice Girl fan... and by fan I mean i got tickets so early that they were 6th row...

17. I'm really fast & sure of myself at making huge life changing decisions (moving, not going to college to join the Young Americans, changing schools, moving again...) but ask me where we should eat dinner and i have NO idea.

18. I graduated wearing a pretty white wedding gown, a bushel of red roses, and a curtsey... i love Viz.

19. I can't deal with people who smack their food... its an issue lol

20. I'm pretty sure I was supposed to live in the 1940s.

the ice capades

Happy Monday Friends!!!

WOW has it been a crazy crazy ass weekend! So lets start by recapping Friday, shall we?

This Friday, the fam went to see "Disney On Ice." It was great! Here are some of the attendees:

During the show, we all got these STELLAR hats! The boys got Cars hats, and the girls got the flower fairy version:

I've never seen Brynley sooooooo excited about getting a hat or just life in general!! OMGoodness. Her arms stretched as far as they will go, almost hyper-ventilating in excitement. Not to mention the spontaneous hugs, to everyone in her general area, when Tinkerbell made her appearance. I wish i got that excited about the little things in life!!

after the fabulous show (and the consumption of too many blue snow cones, pretzels, nachos, hot dogs, and enough cotton candy to feed a small nation) we got into the car and flew home... and now ur asking yourself.. "flew home? what kinda of freakin' car do you have?" lol Brynley and Brayden decided to change our car into a plane. Mom was the captain with Aunt Cathy acting as the co-captain. Thanks to an incredible collaboration of imaginations, the ride home was like revisiting your 4 year old mind. it was great ;) (due to the snow cone intake, daylen was in the "other plane" needing the front pocket air sick bag... yup....)

THINGS WE LEARNED AS CHILDREN BUT SHOULD REVIEW AS ADULTS..

Today is Sunday and as most Sundays I went to church..........

As I settled in my pew and began reading the handout, I read the title of the sermon was "It's Not Easy Being Green".  I chuckled to myself and wondered if we were going to Sesame Street and be with Kermit the Frog.  By the way, Ashley does a great imitation of KTF - just ask her sometime.

I digress - That was what came to my mind, I guess that has to do with the business we are in and everything seems like it can relate to music or a musical.  So, I sat wondering.  Yes, I paid attention to the rest of church but that song just kept going round and round in my head.  When it was time for the sermon, the Pastor didn't disappoint me........Yes, there was KERMIT on the screen singing as only Kermit could sing....."It's Not Easy Being Green".    I wanted to applaud, but contained myself!!! There's nothing like a little Kermit in church early in the morning to spark things up a bit.

I am sure by this point you are wondering exactly what did Kermit have to do with church!  The Pastor was talking about how in Genesis, God greated the heaven and the earth and everything in between. That it was HIS - not ours.  Yes, he created us to live here but that we should take care of it - hence - "It's Not Easy Being Green".  There was much more to the sermon, but I'm sure you get the point - and I got a chuckle to listen to Kermit and think..........thanks for reminding us...we learned that WAY long ago, but sometimes we must step back and REMEMBER!

After communion, as I was kneeling at the alter saying my prayers...I said an extra one for Kermit and his message.  I also said a quick prayer of gratitude, thanking God for giving Ashley a reason not to be with me in church today.  I know if she was there, she would have at some point whispered in my ear in her best Kermit voice and said "Kermit the Frog here".  That would have lead to knee slapping laughter which is not at all appropriate in church.  God knew better.  We should always listen and never question....another lesson we learned long ago!

After church, I had to go to the grocery store - Yuk!  I just hate doing that.  As I was checking out, the Checker who was an older (and wiser) man asked me how I was.  I answered, "good, and yourself?"  He said he was great!  Then he asked me if I was having a good year so far...I answered, "Yes, it's good, how about you?"  He said so far so good...then he told me, he had started the new year talking to Our Father in Heaven.  He said God told him he would have a good year if he did the following 2 things:

1.  Talk to him daily, or talk to this Son....it didn't matter which - it was a family affair!

2.  There were 10 rules he should follow.  If he followed these rules, all would be well and he would 

     have a good year....if not....there would be HELL to pay!

Again, I chuckled and thought...another thing we learned as children that we should remember as adults and I was reminded at all places - the GROCERY STORE!

If we just keep our eyes, ears and HEARTS open it is amazing the places and ways you learn or RE-LEARN/REMEMBER/REVIEW - whatever you want to call it.

PINK SATURDAY - PART 2

Welcome to our second PINK SATURDAY!!!!  Last week was so much fun shooting photos, blogging, but most of all meeting new friends and reading your comments!!!!!  Wow, how exciting it is to have new comments when you log in!!!!

This Saturday, I decided to show my little chair I found at a out of the way store.  It was kind of tucked in a corner, tattered paint, looking lonely and sad.  So, I decided to rescue it, bring it home and paint it pretty pink!

This chair is sitting in our workshop with the cute little "fairy pillow".

The pillow says:  "Fairies remind us of the beauty and mystery of even the smallest things!"

Since you all know we are crazy nuts about fairies and our fairy doors....we use this for inspiration.

Someday, I will blog about my small collection of children's chairs, but for now this little pink one will have to do.......ENJOY PINK SATURDAY!

why i've gone missing ...

Happy Friday Folks!

Sorry for being so absent this week... but allow me to explain. At the end of this month, my dad's dance company will be having their annual concert. And yours truly MIGHT have taken a lot on this year, for this performance ... whoops. I choreographed 2 dances, decided to create all the costumes for both of them, then decided to create a photography "yearbook" for this year's season. Yup... i might have taken too much on. OH WELL! So thats where I have been...

I'll continue to update the blog on how the costumes are coming along. I have rehearsal ALL weekend so the next update for me will be on Monday. Many dancing and fun costume pics from this weekend will fill up the blog next week i'm sure ;) But don't forget to check back on THIS BLOG tomorrow (saturday) for another PINK SATURDAY post!
