PINK SATURDAY - FEBRUARY 28, 2009

HAPPY PINK SATURDAY and happy last day of February - (one month closer to Spring)!

Today is the end of my MacKenzie-Childs posts...unless Hubby decides to surprise me with something new - NOT!

First is a little table that actually I believe is supposed to be used in the garden.  I'm sorry, but nothing MacKenzie-Childs should be sitting outside in all different kinds of weather.  Are they crazy???  This sits in my kitchen and I have a plant on it - that's like being in the garden, right?

I removed the plant so you could see the top of the table:

Next is a rug - this one is in our entry hall but we have a bigger one that is the same except for the size in our family room.  I only took a picture of the entry hall rug because I couldn't get an overhead view of the one in the family room.  I fell in love with the pattern with all the points!

This is a place setting of dishes.  The huge flower is a napkin ring.  I tucked the napkin in the bowl so you could see the dishes better.  Don't you think everyone needs a polka-dotted flower?  

The last thing is a "two-tier sweet stand":

I actually got up early this morning and baked all those goodies!  HA!  In your dreams...just try to bite into them and see how tasty they really are.  You'll get a mouth full of wax.  sorry to disappoint.

This is the very top - such a cute little teapot to go with all the tasty treats!

That's it for my MacKenzie-Childs.  Did you know they make a barbeque pit?  I am not kidding - it's in their black checked pattern.  I think I will skip that one.....can you imagine how dirty that would get? It would kill me!  It says in the catalog that your burger will taste just a dash more exciting!!!!! Imagine that!

PINK SATURDAY - February 21, 2009

It's Saturday again and you know what that means!!!  Find something PINK!

Thanks so much to Beverly of howsweetthesound for another week of hard work putting all this together. Please visit her and all the other pink participants!

I am continuing my Pink MacKenzie-Childs.  This week I am only showing one thing - it is the chandelier that hangs in our dining room.  I fell in love with it in the catalog and then again in the MacKenzie-Childs store in NYC when our daughter, Ashley was living there.  It took several years between the catalog and the visit to finally buy it.

 There is one funny thing about this chandelier - it is their "thistle" pattern and we used to have thistles growing wild in our side yard, which I absolutely hated!!!  You couldn't get rid of them for anything and they hurt so badly when you touched them.  So, now I have it hanging in the dining room!

I love the detail in everything they create.  Enjoy!

That ends Pink Saturday for me today. I  hope you enjoyed it......next week will be the last week of my MacKenzie=Childs postings.  After that, I will be looking around for other pink things!

CAUGHT - RED (WHITE!) HANDED!

Noodle has been very sad since Ashley went back to LA....she tells me that she is lonely and doesn't understand why her mommy (Ashley) keeps coming home and then leaving again and again.  Every time she drags out that big 'ole suitcase - Noodle knows Ashley is leaving again.  She immediately starts to mope and pout!

But yesterday, I caught her like I said, red/white handed!  Noodle told me she absolutely could not wait for Ashley to come home next Tuesday.  She was taking matters into her own hands and she was just going to e-mail her!  She said that she could figure it out, if I just left her alone!

I told her to stop being so silly, Ashley would be home again in a few days.  She needed to get OFF the computer and come downstairs, we needed to get to work!  So after getting my things together, I called up the stairs for her and there was no answer.  Of course, I was in a hurry and she was delaying me with her antics.  So, I headed up the stairs to find her...........

ON THE PHONE!!!!

She said if I wouldn't let her e-mail Ashley she would just let her fingers/paws do the walking and she would do the talking!  So there!!!

All I could do was laugh.....how could you be mad at such a cute little face?

Noodle apologized for being on the computer and the phone when she knew wasn't allowed to use either - jumped down and said, "I'll just get my blankie and wait until Tuesday."  

Ashley, if you read this - there are a lot of XOXOXOXOXOXOXOX  from Noodle waiting for you!

BUTTON, BUTTON, WHO'S GOT THE BUTTON?

While cleaning off my table in my "fairy door" studio, I thought my buttons (that sit on the table) would be a great thing to share.  They are one of those things that always sit there, but lately I must admit I haven't given much attention.

Actually, I've GOT THE BUTTONS, but I must admit - they were my Moms and my Grandmas.

The little girl in the frame is actually a button card.  There is only one button left on the card and there is a price marked on it - 10 cents!  Ha - can you imagine.

When I found this little card, I thought she had such a cute face.  I decided she needed a special place, that's why I decided to frame her and add a little bow.

What a cute little hat, dress and shoes!

The jar of buttons has so many different types and colors of buttons.  Don't you wonder what type of clothing each one was on and why did they end up in a box full of other buttons in my Mom's sewing room.  Oh, if those buttons could talk, imagine the stories they could tell!

I also have a bowl (that was my grandmas) that I have put in some of the old buttons:

There are a few other "objects" in this bowl - on the left there is a pin, the one with the swirly leaves and rhinestones and at the top (this one makes me laugh) a hook (not sure that's what they were called) for a garter belt or girdle!!!!  How did we (?) do it without pantyhose!!!!!!

I don't remember playing the game, button, button who's got the button.  I'm sure we played something similar with another object.  All I know is children these days could not play that game - you know, they might swallow the button because the buttons are too small, they might have lead in them, the buttons might cause some "disease" or psychological problem and they aren't "techno" and tied to the television or some game they have in their hand.

Don't you all wonder how we got to the age we are playing such "silly" games?

I guess the moral to this blog is - don't clean off the table!  I had to stop, take pictures, reminisce and procrastinate about what I was really doing.  Does that happen to you?

BACK TO CALIFORNIA!!!

Ashley is returning to LA tomorrow after being home for an extended Christmas vacation :( 

Just when you are used to having them around all the time - away they go again!!!!  You would think I would be used to it by now.  It does get a bit easier, but all you moms out there know exactly what I am talking about.  Yes????

Who knew when I took this picture approximately 20 (?) years ago, it would be so appropriate today:

That's exactly how she will leave tomorrow - big sunglasses (alot more fashionable than those "bad boys"), an adorable outfit (not overall shorts), and who knows about the hair - could be pigtails of some sort!  LOL.  But one thing won't change:

SHE IS STILL MY SUNSHINE!!!!!!!

PINK SATURDAY!!!!

IT'S TIME FOR PINK SATURDAY AGAIN!

This birdhouse is by MacKenzie-Childs and it hangs in my kitchen.  I apologize for the darkness of the photo but it was a terribly gray day and the lighting is not so good.

I hope you can tell that it has the cutest pink roof.  LIke I said, it hangs in my kitchen because it is TOO cute to hang outside!

Victoria and Robert MacKenzie-Childs are featured in Sommerset Studio's "WHERE WOMEN CREATE" magazine - Feb/March/April 2009 edition.  It's a great article about how their studio and home are on a ferry boat on the Hudson River in NYC.  How fun!  They have started a new line and company called Victoria & Richard Emprise.

Confessions of a Shopaholic

Happy Friday Everyone!!!!

So last night my mom, aunt cathy, hillary, abbey, & I went to go see a sneak preview of "Confessions of A Shopaholic.".... Ladies & Gentleman... my life story on a movie screen. It was a PERFECT MOVIE!! Wonderful story, great characters, gorgeous clothes, a really cute boy... it all added up to a movie that we gave "2 thumbs up." So lets talk about it shall we?

First of all, the one and only, Patricia Field did that costumes... and they were freaking AMAZING!!!!! UGH! Here are some of my favs:

I love this purple outfit- and the boots! AHHH Patricia field said she got them in Tokyo i believe...and i'm about to jump on a plane just to go get them.. and of course that Gucci purse doesn't hurt the outfit either.

I know i know, we are supposed to hate this Bridesmade dress...but i like it... ya its a bit over the top, but with that jacket she threw on with it, it was so Betsey Johnson that i kinda loved it ;)

And lets talk about the 3rd outfit, the coat... i'm in love!!!!

Does anyone know who is the designer for that Green Belt?? Ugh i want one. It just makes everything "pop" its amazing.

And anyone who cleans their closet out in booty shorts, a silk scarf, & yellow pumps ... yup i'm pretty sure we were meant to be soul sisters ;)
