AU REVOIR

Today was the day.........Ashley left for Paris!!!!  I am so excited for her - what an opportunity but I must say I am very sad.  You know what I mean, every time your child leaves it pulls at your heartstrings!  

This picture was taken at 5:30 a.m.!!!!!!!  She had a very early flight from St. Louis to Boston and a long layover there and then on to Paris tonight.  She should be there tomorrow morning - Paris time!

We always took a picture on her first day of school - so it seemed fitting!  Wondering what she has in her hands?  Snacks and a lint roller.....

PINK SATURDAY PHOTO SHOOT

Welcome to Pink Saturday!  First, I must apologize for not blogging or visiting much lately.  We are redecorating our studio (our main business) and it has gone much slower than anticipated and we open for another school year on Monday!  So every extra minute has been spent there.  Hopefully I will be better at visiting your blogs and writing more of my own soon.

It is 1:00 a.m. on Saturday morning and we just returned from the studio.  I have been wondering all evening what I was going to blog about that was already on my camera and was PINK!  I happened to remember we went to a wedding last Saturday and Ashley wore a dress that was pink.  The wedding was held in Forest Park which is a huge park here in St. Louis.  Actually, it is bigger than Central Park in NYC.  It was a gorgeous day and while waiting between the wedding and the reception we decided to have an "impromptu" photo shoot.  Actually, we were just being silly but it was so much fun!

As I sit here so early in the morning posting this and going through these pictures I must admit I am a bit sad.  Ashley leaves for Paris on Monday morning (yes, the same day the studio opens).  She will be attending the Paris Fashion Institute.  After having her home again since April it is hard to say goodbye once more.  I guess I should be used to it by now but as all you Moms know, it is never easy.  Whoops, I shouldn't have said goodbye....it's "au revoir"!

PINK SATURDAY - AUGUST 22, 2009

Welcome everyone to another PINK SATURDAY hosted by Beverly howsweetthesound.typepad.com  Please drop by her blog and the visit all the other Pink Saturday participants.

This week I have two things to share.  The first one belonged to my Grandma...not sure what she used it for but it made it's way to me.  I just have it sitting in my china cabinet as most of her things do. The pink is light so it doesn't show up to well, but it is actually pink!

That big flower in the front that looks white is actually the light pink I was talking about!

The next thing I would like to share is really a bit more red than pink....depending on how the light hits it.  This bell with the little girl on it belonged to my Mom.

I decided a few years back when my Hubby had his hip replaced that it would be a good idea for him to keep it next to the bed.  This was very thoughtful on my part (I thought) so he could just ring it when he needed something so he didn't have to yell for me in case I was downstairs while he was upstairs.

Hahahahahahaha!!!!  After the first couple of days of the pretty little red/pink bell I was ready to hurl it (and him?) out the window.  I think that's all I need to say.  I took it away from him.  As you can see, I still have the red/pink bell and Hubby!

PINK SATURDAY AND CHILDHOOD REVISITED!

HAPPY PINK SATURDAY to you!  Today, I'm going to take a little trip down memory lane.  I was cleaning, yes - you heard me right....I was cleaning of all things my china hutch and came across a little figurine of Tinkerbell.  When I was a little girl, Tinkerbell was my (and still is) favorite Fairy.   

You can see that her wings are some kind of net and believe it or not they are still intact.  After all these  many years!  And nothing is broken....she is just perfect.  You really can't tell that her dress is PINK in this photo but from the side you can!

Now that I think of it, why is she in PINK?  Isn't Tinkerbell always in green or is that a Disney thing? 

I always thought when I laid in my bed as a kid and looked out the window (which was always raised due to no air conditioning in Oklahoma) that the lighting bugs were really Tinkerbell.  She was always coming to check on me - I was sure of that!

Oh, I loved my little Tinkerbell.....I loved her so much that I actually wrote my name on the bottom so my sisters wouldn't take her!!!!!  You know how when you are five or so you feel the need to protect your things from your older sisters!  Like they would want it!  LOL

SHE'S A WINNER!!!!

It's Thursday and as promised, it's FAIRY DOOR GIVEAWAY day!  First, I would like to thank all of you who came by for a visit and all your kind words.

As I said in the previous post - Ashley loves modeling a hat that we put the names in to choose the winner. However, we decided to use a different vintage hat this time.  This lovely hat was purchased when Ashley lived in Los Angeles and we attended the Rose Bowl Flea Market.

Lately, the hat has been worn by "Calliope" the Carousel horse.  We are having work done in our house and things have been moved from room to room so what a better place to put a hat!
